A collaboration between BBC Learning Campaigns and the Doctor Who team, Doctor Who and the BBC micro:bit was a string of three Year 7 & 8 Computing lesson plans, framed as a story. You can visit the webpage and try all of the activities here.
Working closely with the Doctor Who staff, education toy makers Tech Will Save Us, non-profit organisation The micro:bit Foundation and graphics and game design company Carbon, I designed, edited and released the content pages and material for this event over three weeks:
- Mission Sonic: Use your micro:bit, a speaker and your craft skills to create your own Sonic Screwdriver
- Mission Decode: Program your own decryption algorithm to get access to a secret webpage.
- Mission Hack: Hack into the armour of a Dalek and sneak through their spaceship base.
Mission Hack is of special note – it’s a complete browser-based game! Designing and executing this project with such a momentous IP and alongside other really skilled creators was a delight, and it’s sure to remain one of my most favourite projects.
